BHARAT DIETETIC ASSOCIATION is a Section 8 not-for-profit charitable association committed to revolutionizing health through ethical professional practices, promoting high professional standards of independent practice of dieticians, and fostering professional growth within the field, thereby improving the status of dieticians in India working in the Central Govt., State Govt., Public Sector, Indian Railways, Defence, BSF, CRPF, E.S.I.C. hospitals, and reputed hospitals in different parts of the country. 

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:

  • To inculcate and create awareness of the importance of nutrition and dietetics in the maintenance of health and the prevention and treatment of diseases commonly found among the Indian population. 
  • To improve the quality of dietary service provided to patients in hospitals in India as well as abroad. 
  • To coordinate and interact with other national and international nutrition associations to keep abreast of the latest developments in the field of nutrition and dietetics. 

VISION:

  1. Optimal Health: The association aims to envision a world where everyone has access to the knowledge and resources needed to achieve and maintain optimal health through proper nutrition. 
  2. Evidence-Based Practice: A commitment to evidence-based practice is usually central to the vision. This involves ensuring that all dietary recommendations and interventions are grounded in scientific research and proven to be effective. 
  3. Education and Awareness: BDA strive to educate the public about the importance of nutrition and empower individuals to make informed choices about their diet and lifestyle. 
  4. Professional Excellence: There’s usually an emphasis on promoting professional excellence among dietitians and nutrition professionals. This includes providing ongoing education, training, and support to ensure that practitioners are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills through seminars, webinars, conferences, and workshops, along with its newsletter, Insights, Journal of Nutrition Research, books, courses, and workshops in collaboration with national and international societies. 
  5. Advocacy and Policy: BDA will work to influence public policy and advocate for initiatives that promote healthy eating and address issues such as food insecurity, nutrition-related diseases, and access to nutritious food.

OUR MISSION:

Our mission is prevention and treatment of malnutrition, education and training of dieticians and nutrition professionals with the latest research, practical skills, and tools necessary to deliver high-quality care and support, conducting nutrition training through seminars, webinars, conferences, workshops, along with its newsletter, Insight, Journal of Nutrition Research, books, courses, and workshops in collaboration with national and international societies with the core aim to assist the nutritional care of patients, advocacy and evidence-based nutrition policy development, and engaging with communities fundamental to our approach.

Our office administration team (National Executive Committee, Committees, Chapters, and Core Groups) tirelessly works in the following ways:

  • Identifying those at risk from malnutrition in the community. 
  • Improving nutritional status in all age groups through public education and awareness about nutrition. 
  • Organizing nutrition assessment programs for data collection and identifying the prevalence of diseases. 
  • Suggesting counteractive measures against the diseases and other underlying problems.

Programmatic decisions are made on the basis of prevalence rates suggested in the collected data in collaboration with the government and other agencies. We are also working to improve the information available for patients and their caregivers. The Bharat Dietetic Association is a driving force in the fight against malnutrition and a champion for the promotion of optimal health through nutrition. By uniting professionals, advocating for change, and empowering communities, we are shaping a healthier, more resilient future for generations to come.
