Our Goals

BHARAT DIETETIC ASSOCIATION is a Section 8 not-for-profit charitable association committed to revolutionizing health through ethical professional practices, promoting high professional standards of independent practice of dieticians, and fostering professional growth within the field, thereby improving the status of dieticians in India working in the Central Govt., State Govt., Public Sector, Indian Railways, Defence, BSF, CRPF, E.S.I.C. hospitals, and reputed hospitals in different parts of the country.

Aims and objectives of the Bharat Dietetic Association:

  1. To create vacancies according to the guidelines and eligibility criteria of the Government of India.
  2. To equalize the pay scale of posted dieticians in every hospital according to the pay scale of the Government of India.
  3. To get amendments done in the minimum eligibility criteria of dieticians i.e. M.Sc. Dietetics / M.Sc. Nutrition / M.Sc. Dietetics & Nutrition / M.Sc. Nutrition and Dietetics / M.Sc. Dietetics & Food Service Management / M.Sc. Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics / M.Sc. Food, Nutrition and Dietetics / M.Sc. Food Science and Nutrition / M.Sc. Applied Nutrition / M.Sc. Human Nutrition / M.Sc. Food and Nutrition from a recognised university plus six months of internship and two years of work experience in a hospital as a full-time dietician (clinical only).
  4. To finalize the Duties and Responsibilities of dieticians according to the guidelines by the Government of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
  5. Duties and Responsibilities of a dietician is only Clinical and Administrative.
  6. To formulate, approve and implement the code of ethics for dieticians by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
  7. To grant Non-Practicing Allowances (NPA) to the dieticians working in the government sector.
  8. To get dieticians entitled under Dynamic Career Progression Scheme (DCPS) like other Medical officer under Government of India.
  9. To provide Ph.D. allowance like an Assistant Professor working in the Education Department of the Government.
  10. To provide guidance and advice to the Dietetics Council of India, formed by the National Commission for Allied and Health Care Professions.
  11. To issue the “Registered Dietician (RD)” certificate to the dieticians according to their Educational, Technical, and Professional Qualifications.
  12. Internship: Internship Guidelines should be approved by UGC / Govt. of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, New Delhi.
  13. Dieticians should prescribe food supplements like multivitamins and mineral tablets or capsules, disease-specific supplements for diabetes mellitus, CKD, hepatic, pulmonary, immunity boosters, high-protein, glutamine, post-operative etc. whenever needed, which does not come under the Schedule of Drugs Act.
  14. The charges and bills for dietician consultations and nutritional supplements prescribed should be paid (TPA).
  15. To advise patients for blood investigations like biochemistry (sugar profile), renal function test, liver profile, electrolytes, lipid profile, anaemia profile, thyroid profile, etc. for their betterment.
  16. Recruitment of Dietician through UPSC / State Public Service Commission.

Because the dietician has to see the patients and plan the diet chart and nutrition prescription as per their weight, height, sex, pathological report, disease history, activity schedule, anthropometric data, and clinical findings, the diet chart and nutrition prescription plan are fully therapeutic, clinical and evidence-based. It is similarly important as medicine to control diseases.
We are providing a therapeutic diet to our patients; the diet is fully clinical, scientific, and research-based. Therapeutically modified diets prescribed in the hospitals are not for commercial purposes.
